Working Group Spatial Planning
The Working Group Spatial Planning of the UniGR-CBS, in which researchers from the six universities of the University of the Greater Region work together, was founded in November 2015.

The working group examines cross-border spatial planning approaches, as well as the comparison of planning cultures and practices both within the Greater Region and beyond. In addition, the topic of transnational and intercultural learning has increasingly come into focus in recent years. The figure below illustrates the researchers' diverse spatial planning-related focal points in the above-mentioned areas.

Our objectives:
- Scientific exchange on planning systems and cultures as well as specific spatially relevant topics in border areas and in an international comparison
- Researching planning governance in the Greater Region
- Promotion of the dialogue between planning practice, politics and research
- Teaching intercultural skills in the training and further education of spatial planners
- Developing cross-border teaching materials and establishment of a regular exchange between the planning faculties of the Greater Region
Our tools and methods:
- Elaboration and implementation of simulation games with planning practitioners, students and politicians for a cross-border comparison of planning practices
- Mobilization of networks and mutual learning of academic visions from the 6 regions of the Greater Region
- MOOC on the topic of planning cultures (planned)
