The talk will describe the author's 70 plus years of living and writing plays on, about, and through different borders. Carlos Morton has lived on the border between Mexico and the United States since 1981, teaching at universities in Texas, California and Mexico. In the lecture, the central theme is the concept of Mestizaje and the clash of different cultures and how the author reshapes his trajectory in the face of globalization.

Carlos Morton is currently Professor Emeritus of Theater at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Guest lecture within “Riverine Borders – On rivers and other border materialities”: The accompanying program to Zoe Leonard’s exhibition “Al río / To the River” organized by The Contemporary Art Museum of Luxembourg (MUDAM) and the UniGR-Center for Border Studies.
