Guest Lecture – Migration or cross-border living? Luxembourgers in German Moselle villages

Catégorie d'actualité

Date de début

The relocation of the place of residence to the other side of a national border is a sort of cross-border mobility that has recently become more significant in various (European) border regions. The Greater Region Saar-Lor-Lux represents a particularly interesting object of study, since the group of "resident migrants" is extremely complex in its composition and the cross-border movements are extremely diverse.

The lecture is based on the analysis of individual "moving stories" of Luxembourgish residents of German Moselle villages and focuses on the question whether the relocation of their residence can be understood as migration.

Elisabeth Boesen is a Senior Researcher at the Institute for History of the University of Luxembourg.

Guest lecture as part of the interregional UniGR-CBS conference series "Border Realities: Challenges and Perspectives in Uncertain Times" (www.borderrealities.org).
