UniGR-CBS at the first Congress of the Researchers of Borders and Borderlands in Poland

This week, the first Congress of the Polish Border and Borderland Researchers took place at the University of Opole and the University of Wrocław. The three-day conference, entitled "(De)Constructing Borders in Borderlands Studies", provided for the more than 100 attendees an international platform for exchange with the Polish border scholar community.

The UniGR-CBS was well represented by the members of the working group "Bordertextures". They organized two panel sessions focusing on conceptual challenges in Cultural Border Studies and on results achieved in applying the bordertextures approach. In seven presentations, the UniGR-CBS members showed the potential of the complexity-oriented approach and the role of literature, music, film, and photography in contemporary bordering processes.

The participating UniGR-CBS members from universities in Germany, France and Luxembourg initiated several contacts with Polish and international border scholars in order to learn more about Polish border(land) studies and to develop new project cooperations.
