Cross-Border Citizenship? Experiences, Practices and Perspectives

This conference aims to discuss, examine, and critically reflect on an aspect that has received little attention to date: the "citizenship" of cross-border commuters. The event is intended for researchers and practitioners interested in cross-border employment in Switzerland and Luxembourg.

Does something like cross-border citizenship exist? Do cross-border commuters exhibit specific practices and habits that point to a distinct form of citizenship – shaped by their cross-border mobility and their relationship with two countries: their country of residence and their country of employment? How can such a form of citizenship be defined? How can it be measured or approached? Are there differences between regions, such as between Switzerland and Luxembourg?
