Diese Arbeit erforscht die symbolische Bedeutung von nationalen Grenzen in einem regionalen grenzüberschreitenden Kontext. Die Grenzgestaltung im Großraum Genf liefert ein sinnbildliches Beispiel von grenzüberschreitender Kooperation, in der die Unsichtbarmachung der Grenze in der räumlichen Wahrnehmung eigentlich nur eine Symbolisierungsstrategie mit dem Ziel ist, den obsoleten Charakter der Genze hervorzuheben.

This paper explores the symbolic significance of national borders in a cross-border regional context. The Greater Geneva borderscape provides an emblematic case of cross-border cooperation in which the invisibilisation of the border in the spatial imaginaries is in fact a symbolisation strategy aimed at underlining its obsolete character.

Ce travail explore la signification symbolique des frontières nationales dans un contexte régional transfrontalier. L'aménagement des frontières dans le Grand Genève fournit un exemple emblématique de coopération transfrontalière, dans lequel l'invisibilité de la frontière dans la perception spatiale n'est en fait qu'une stratégie de symbolisation visant à souligner le caractère obsolète de la frontière.
